We had a problem.  We had a need for part-time, hourly Sales Assistants to hold open houses on the weekends. While being a part-time position, the Sales Assistant position is a critical position to the success of the sales and marketing effort.  For many of our potential customers, the Sales Assistant is their first contact with a representative of our company. The pay was good, for part-time work, but we were having a very difficult time recruiting and retaining good talent. 

In early 2005, we contracted with Lauren Salomon to assist us in the selections process. Lauren took a very methodical approach to the problem. She interviewed us to understand the job requirements and identify past problem areas. She put together a detailed job description and minimum qualifications for successful candidates. She then placed advertisements for the position, screened potential candidates, conducted interviews, and presented us with a "short list" of qualified candidates to choose from. The process was extremely successful. Four of the candidates were hired. Retention went from being measured in weeks and months to being measured in years, with one of the hires reaching the five-year mark.

Since that first experience, Lauren has been involved in all of our hiring decisions, including our full-time hires. Hiring and retaining quality, dedicated employees has been key to our success. Lauren has brought an organized, objective process which has both made for better hiring decisions as well as freed up management time so that we can focus on running our business.
